GMP - WORLD LEADER PRETEND!

GMP - WORLD LEADER PRETEND!

Saturday, February 16th at 9pm

For this special night of Presidents and Princesses, Cult Leaders and Kings, we're going somewhere that can meet the demanding needs of such a diverse and high class clientele: Sunset Bowl in Ballard.

Scheduled to be razed later this year, Sunset Bowl has Bowling (of course), but also a full bar with Karaoke! They serve those great Bowling Pin Beers, and best of all, it's ALL AGES! So if you're under 21 and have always wanted to come to a GMP, or if you have a kid that wants to dress up and do a little bowling, this is your chance!

Rumor has it the GMP PDX Crew are coming up from Portland, so come on out and make them feel welcome (and show them how we do it up here in Seattle!)

Sunset Bowl has been host to Santarchy in year's past, so we don't suspect any trouble - but just in case, we'll call The Old Peculiar our Exit Strategy, should we need a alternate (or second) location.

Sunset Bowl - 1420 NW Market Street
The Old Peculiar - 1722 NW Market Street

If you'd like to be sure to get a bowling lane, give Sunset Bowl a call at 206-782-7310 and reserve a lane ($24 for an hour). Just don't tell them GMP is coming! We wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.

So get your crowns and scepters shined, and get ready for some bowling and karaoke at WORLD LEADER PRETEND! this Saturday, February 16th at 9pm!

It's gonna be a busy week, but we know you're up to it!

We're giving away two pairs of tickets for the ST. VINCENT & FOREIGN BORN on Tuesday. The first 2 people to write info@neumos.com about each show wins free entrance, plus one. Good luck!

Neumos and The Stranger Present:

"Sufjan sidelady, Polyphonic Spree-dispenser, and, now, the patron saint of indie shredfests: Annie Clark of St. Vincent wears more hats than Alex Mack, and, coincidentally, we turn into a silvery pool of liquid every time we hear her music. "// PITCHFORK MEDIA

"St. Vincent writes cinematic pop epics that feel at times like Paris in the '20s before all the fun ended. Or, conversely, an orchestra of pure modernity a new American music, informed by jazz, gospel blues, Southern folk music, and classical composition but-in the end-an animal original unto itself. She's been compared to everyone from Bjork to Kate Bush to Jeff Buckley, and her beautiful voice melds perfectly with her intricate guitar work."// IN SOUND

Total Lunar Eclipse viewing

Seattle Spin writes:

Astronomy: Total Lunar Eclipse viewing, Feb 20th, free. The evens happens in the early evening, so you don't need to stay up late to see the obscured moon. Plenty of nice volunteers are on hand, and they even provide the telescopes. If you've never seen a lunar eclipse, then it's worth the effort to make this one.

On the evening of Wednesday, February 20th, 2008, a Total Lunar Eclipse (TLE) will occur and is visible from Seattle. This provides us a good opportunity to conduct an outreach event. We amateur astronomers of Seattle Astronomical Society (SAS) will be sharing with the public the awe-inspiring views and the knowledge of this celestial event. SAS members are encouraged to participate this event as volunteers. If you can bring a telescope to the event, that would be great. If you do not have a telescope, you may still join and enjoy this event together with fellow members and the public!

Time: Wednesday, February 20th, 2008. This eclipse starts right after sunset at 5:43pm, and ends at 9:09pm. Volunteers may make arrangement according to his/her schedule. If you are one of the "public", simply stop by at any time!

Location: 5970 W Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA 98103, near Green Lake Small Craft Center. This is at the southwest corner of the lake. Telescopes will be set up north of the Small Craft Center, by the main loop path. The coordinates are +47.67257, -122.3436, which you can paste into Google Map to find the exact location. There are plenty of parking space nearby on both sides of Green Lake Way.

Weather: Please use your judgment on the weather conditions of the day. Unless it is totally cloudy or rainy, at least some of us will be there.

If you have any questions, please email programs@seattleastro.org. See you there!
