Hi everyone!
My Book is Done!

Plastic Cameras: Toying with Creativity
is on its way to the warehouse, and will be in stores shortly (this week or next).
I have a copy here, and it's a fabulous treat to see this collection of plastic and toy cameras images and information together at last in a very cute little package.

lecture and booksigning
Friday Oct 20th 8pm
doors open at 7:30 (no advance tix-door only)

Roq La Rue Gallery is hosting a one night only special lecture by world renowned author Graham Hancock. He is known for his provocative questioning on the origins of culture. Graham will be give a slideshow talk and then signing his newest book?"Supernatural" (we will have copies on hand that night only). This will be an interesting and though provoking event!?

Graham Hancock is the author of the major international bestsellers?The Sign and The Seal <http://www.grahamhancock.com/library/sats/default.htm> ,?Fingerprints of the Gods <http://www.grahamhancock.com/library/fotg/default.htm> ,?Keeper of Genesis ,?The Mars Mystery,?Heaven's Mirror <http://www.grahamhancock.com/library/hm/default.htm> ?and?Underworld. His books have sold more than five million copies, have been translated into 27 languages, and include five No 1 bestsellers in the UK. He has become recognized as an unconventional thinker who raises interesting questions about humanity's history and prehistory and offers a popular challenge to the entrenched views of orthodox scholars.

Graham's talk will include:

* The mysteries of the human career -- from the last common ancestor? with the chimpanzee six million years ago to the sudden switching on of the entire suite of modern human abilities less than 40,000 years ago;
* Insight into the latest scientific findings concerning the role played by shamanistic "altered states of consciousness" (trance states) in the imagery of supernatural beings painted on the walls of prehistoric caves and rock shelters all around the world;
* The range of techniques that shamans from many different cultures have developed in order to enter and manipulate altered states of consciousness;
* A new perception of the brain not only as a generator of consciousness but also as a receiver of consciousness;
* An exploration of the possibility that shamanistic techniques for altering consciousness effectively retune the "receiver wavelength of the brain" allowing us to gain access to other dimensions of reality -- parallel worlds that are in every meaningful sense real but that remain inaccessible to us when we are in the "normal", alert, problem-solving states of consciousness favoured by modern Western technological culture.

Don Volcano's Computer Corner

In this week's edition retired C.D.O. Andrew will explore the "Exploding Casket Syndrome":

Exploding Casket Syndrome
http://mausoleumproblems.homestead.com/intro.html

Here's an interesting link that talks about problems in the Mausoleum business, including "Exploding Casket Syndrome". If the body isn't properly embalm it will purify and a sealed casket may act as a pressure cooker on it, causing the body to explode within the casket. And in extreme cases causing the casket to also explode. Check this out:

So-called "sealer" caskets, when sealed as designed, may act as a sort of "pressure cooker" upon the remains locked inside; thus the body may bloat, burst open, and spew liquefied organs and tissues into the casket.

Occasionally, the above situation may result in the phenomenon informally known within the Death Care Industry as "Exploding Casket Syndrome". This is due to a buildup of extreme pressures within the sealed casket. When this happens, the casket may quite literally blow up, spewing corpse liquids and body parts throughout the mausoleum crypt. This may result in serious damage to the crypt itself; obviously the casket and the body are extremely damaged or destroyed by the explosion. The decorative marble fronts of the crypts may even be blown out; thus, foul-smelling liquids, semi-solids, and casket pieces may be thrown into the public area of the mausoleum. This is not only a traumatic incident; nearby people could be injured or killed by pieces of mausoleum marble and concrete acting as shrapnel!

Sometimes, the casket's seals will by design "burp", before an explosion can take place. Occasionally, these kind of seals may fail themselves, thus discharging corpse liquids in a rather aerosol-like manner.

And check out this link about "Masoleum Flys":

Until next week,

Don Volcano
