What a weird week. All events I could find are on Friday except for Artwalk, which is on Thursday. I know that there are some dance and theater events and also a Flight to Mars fundraiser on Wednesday. But I didn't find them interesting enough.
In this week's Computer Corner I will present two rare videos related to the recent Apple versus Apple lawsuit.

The Worlds Longest Garage Sale (Long Beach WA)

The Worlds Longest Garage Sale
That's right, Long Beach WA, the worlds longest unbroken stretch of sand
turns their chain of towns on the Long Beach Peninsula into one
gigantic garage sale, yard sale, & estate sale.
Unfortunately you have to drive thru Raymond to get there. (Is that a
slam? Of course it is!) But, if you go to this, it sets you up for
the next event...

I don't really like it that much.
But I bet a lot of PV readers do.
Seattle Film Festival (5/25 - 6/18)
Yep, it's time again. A year has past. After several years of downgrades I am changing my opinion. It's maybe not that bad if you stick to some reasonable rules:
(1) Don't go to the opening and closing gala - it's a rip off.
(2) Don't go to movies that they will show in theatres afterwards (i.e. Run Lola Run).
(3) Don't buy tickets weeks in advance. Handpick rainy days for watching SIFF movies instead.
(4) Avoid over hyped movies because you will end up waiting in ridiculously long lines and you won't get a good seat (i.e. films by Ozon).
(5) Don't go to movies in large groups. Two is the maximum otherwise you won't be able to find seats.
(6) Pick shows in the middle of the day if your work schedule allows it.
(7) Pick odd documentaries and movies from weird countries, because those won't come to the theatres and you won’t be able to rent them (I am still waiting for Paperclip from 2005).
What movies are left after applying those rules? Well, two years ago I watched a fantastic movie from Cameroon about a guy, who falls in love with a pygmy.
There is one movie that K.D. is involved in that you might want to check out. She writes:
Hello one and all,
Some more movie news.
"We Go Way Back" the movie I worked on doing costumes AND being an extra (I even say a line) will be showing at The Seattle International Film Festival.
It will have two showings,
Tuesday, June 13th at 9:30pm
and
Saturday, June 17th at 1:30pm
Get tickets now,it will surely sell out.

I think $5 suggested donation for looking at somebody's travel photos with snacks seems a little bit bold.

Building on the success of the introductory group exhibits, PUNCH Gallery kicks off its exhibition of individual member work with the first of a series of solo shows. Between Payback and the Pirate Ship opens June 1 and will feature the mixed-media paintings of Lucas Martin.
Currently residing in Ellensburg, Washington, Lucas Martin has set aside his background in the biological sciences to do post-baccalaureate work in the visual arts.
As Martin stated, The sciences became similar to a job in many ways. I decided to change directions and follow a path more honest to myself. The break from the sciences began with an interest in photography initially, which led me to drawing and painting.
Martin has shown work recently at Ellensburgs top visual arts center, Gallery One, at Yakimas Simon-Edwards gallery, and most recently at Punchs premier show, Round One.
His current paintings explore the implicit and imagined values placed on objects specifically animals and toys. Graphite and pastel collide with oil and resin to form loose images and evoke notions of primacy and the spontaneous antics of childhood.
My paintings begin with the imaginary values placed on toys or animals. Susceptible to more than one interpretation, these paintings should encourage the viewer to compose a self-constructed narrative, and in this process, hopefully produce curiosity, cultivate mystery, and continue to stimulate imagination and creative action within the viewer, Martin explains.

Don Volcano's Computer Corner
You probably read in the news that Apple Records was suing Apple Computers because of the usage of the "Apple" trademark in relation to music. The quarrel about the trademark is a rather boring topic.
Instead I can offer you two extremely funny videos that came out of this court case.
The first one is real: An error led to BBC News 24 putting the wrong person on air to answer questions over Apple versus Apple and what it might mean for the music industry. IT expert Guy Kewney had been due to appear but instead job interview candidate Guy Goma was put on.
Notice Guy's face when the reporter asked him the first question.

The second one is unfortunately not real. Or maybe it is?:
John Lennon is revealed as inventor of the iPod!
http://www.stereogum.com/archives/002586.html
Wanna hear my opinions on iPods? Every three months I get one for free from my company - either because we laid off hundreds of people and I made it, or we had a good quarter and we don't need to lay off anybody.
Either way, my iPod shuffle just died and the other one (a 60gig brick) skips like one of those first generation CD players. So I switched to iriver U10 (the latest gift), which is a bizarre product but I figured out how to watch clips and movies on it.
I hope I won't get a Beatles Box next time!
Best,
Don Volcano
