Camlann Medieval Faire

A little bit creepy:

The lord of Camlann invites you to attend his 24th anniversary faire. Come to Somersetshire, ancient realm of Arthur the king, as our morning trumpet & charter proclamation open the village gates upon the colorful world of Chaucer's England in 1376. The pace is leisurely: everything does not happen at once. The scale is small, intimate: leave the 20th C. behind.

Food: For lunch, our food stall has wholesome ploughman’s meals, pasties, and muste to drink; You may sit down at þe Bors Hede and order ale or mead with a hot lunch (11:30 - 5:00 pm); Enjoy our outdoor dining area. Call ahead to reserve a table for a wondrous dinner (5:00 to 8:00 pm). On Saturdays and some Sundays the Summer Feast begins at 6:00 pm.

JOUSTING AGAIN THIS YEAR !!

Trumpet fanfares at 12:30 and 5:00 pm will beckon you to the tourney field where Sir Geffrey and his knights (performed by the Seattle Knights, directed by Don Parris) will present a tournament of mounted jousting, equestrian games, and foot combat. Don Parris, Director.

Bizarre Bazaar by WetSpot

Seattle Spin writes:

Event: Bizarre Bazaar, $5, July 23rd, by WetSpot, age 18 and over. Well, if you wanna add a little spice to your sex life, think of this as pepper mixed with cayenne. Over 35 vendors cover all the bases from tame to wild, from belly dancing, kissing classes, personal toys, and pasty twirling. Actually, despite first blush, these sorts of events really aren't about getting laid, but rather about helping people enjoy active and healthy sex. The morality of it is up to you.

BUDDY FOLEY Benefit @ CONWORKS

Poor guy. But I am sorry, his art looks like shit.

For the better part of four decades, Buddy Foley has
maintained a colorful presence in Seattle's arts community.
A recent debilitating illness has left Foley in financial peril. His plight
was chronicled in the local media, which won him a temporary reprieve
from imminent eviction from his familiar Interbay studio, Foley now
faces daunting expenses related to back rent, utilities, and medical bills.
A group of Foley's friends has organized a benefit event to assist him on
Thursday, July 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM
at Consolidated Works, 500 Boren Street

Get well, Buddy!

TIM KREIDER BOOK SIGNING & READING

WHY DO THEY KILL ME?

By Tim Kreider; Introduction by Mark Crispin Miller

136-page B&W 9” x 7 ” softcover • $14.95

For years, Tim Kreider’s cartoons (as collected in 2004’s The Pain:
When Will It End?) were single-panel non-sequiturs in the tradition of
B. Kliban, about the squalor and ridiculousness of the human condition.
But after the takeover by the Bush-Cheney regime and the War on Terror,
he focused his bitter humor on more timely issues. His political
cartoons have been, in the words of Ted Rall (not known as a
sentimental softie), “among the most viscerally anti-Bush work around.”
As reality has become ever more nightmarish, Kreider’s been driven to
push the outer limits of humor to parody it. In this collection you
will find: The Girls of Hamas calendar, the artist’s conception of
“Negropolis” (Strom Thurmond’s proposal for a lunar colony for the
repatriation of African-Americans), John Ashcroft imagining eating
Donald Rumsfeld as their bunker crumbles around them, and U.S. jets
bombing the Great Pyramids in the War on Horror. Cynical, astute,
blackly hilarious, and deeply biased, these cartoons are neither the
superficial, obvious jibes that appear in your daily paper’s editorial
section nor the didactic left-wing rants syndicated in your local
alternative weekly; they are the artistic equivalent of hollow-point
bullets fired from a high-powered rifle with a laser sight directly
into the brain of the Bush administration. With an introduction by Mark
Crispin Miller, author of The Bush Dyslexicon and Cruel and Unusual.

The Salteens / Math & Physics Club / Tullycraft at Chop Suey

Hi Rockstar Folks –

In case your calendar isn't marked with a big happy face on Thursday, July 28th - get out the sharpie / sharbie!

Three Imaginary Girls presents:
JULY 28, 2005 {Thursday} at CHOP SUEY
The Salteens / Math & Physics Club {EP release show} / Tullycraft
This is an ALL AGES show.
Doors: 8p
Tix: $7

What better way to celebrate the release of the new Math and Physics Club EP, Movie Romance Ending, than to make one ALL AGES night of Pacific Northwest jangle pop for the record books. Don't miss headliners The Salteens from Vancouver, who play fine straight-up indie-pop with dazzling instrumentation. The evening's openers, Tullycraft will delight the masses with swift kicks of cuddly indie-pop and wit.

Let me know if you want any more info, printable photos, cds, eloquent quotes, etc. on any of these fine uber-tasty bands or if you are interested in coming out to the big show.

Thanks!!
Liz

Listen to a song: http://www.boompa.ca/salteens/media.cfm

"At a mere 28 minutes, the [Salteens'] album is a compact, energetic and joyous barrage of guitar-pop punches, snappy lyrics and sing-along choruses, served up over a set of jubilant melodies that will reside in the back of your brain for days on end like a soundtrack to spring fever. Boppy, bouncy riffs and keyboard swirls intertwine with soupy veils of '60s strings and swells of rolling horns, twinkling in silvery layers over frisky basslines and fluid, playful percussion." -- Splendid

"Seattle’s Math and Physics Club consolidate their influences {Magnetic Fields, Lucksmiths, Smiths} into songs that are at once reflective, melancholic and uplifting. Each song fits like a vintage cashmere glove and could calm the jitteriest of souls." -- Three Imaginary Girls

"It is officially summer and you need to be listening to something bright and cheery. Might I suggest local band Tullycraft's newest record 'Disenchanted Hearts Unite'? Like the Mates of State, Tullycraft showcase bouncy male/female harmonies and soft, poppy melodies, but their music is a bit more lo-fi and adorably twee-pop oriented. There's also a bit of They Might Be Giants-esque fun in there, complemented with subtle punk rock distortion. Fans of Superchunk will absolutely adore it." --Megan Seling, The Stranger
