PILEDRIVER! Opening Night Party

Ruth writes:

Hello Party Volcano! There's a party coming up that I think would make a great addition to your list. We're throwing an opening night party after PILEDRIVER! on Friday, August 4. Come to the show, stay for the party! Your ticket to the show ($20) gets you in to the party. It's going to be a rowdy show, and a rowdy afterparty, and I'm hoping to get the word out to all of the party volcano people! Details below. Thanks for your time!

Sincerely,
Ruth

"Get Ready to Rumble! PILEDRIVER! and Opening Night Party on August 4"

Get in the Ring, C%@ksucker! Joe Boston Productions brings PILEDRIVER! back to the stage with all of the profanity, body slamming, and homoerotic intrigue you've come to expect from professional wrestling. But PILEDRIVER! isn't just lots of rasslin' - death-defying, rowdy, balls to the wall, breathtaking rasslin'. PILEDRIVER! also has real passion, real heartbreak, and real character development, not to mention very hot fake sex!

It's 1979, and the Western Wrestling Alliance is starting a bus tour of the Pacific Northwest. Referee Harvey Jones, his partner Killer Karl Kramer, and power couple Angie and Randy Rage are joined by new punk wrestler Rock "The Cock" Hardd. Rock lusts after the WWA belt. . . and Randy! Will this be settled in the squared circle or the bedroom?

PILEDRIVER! popped and chopped at Re-bar in 2003. This time the ultimate smackdown is in the CHAC Showroom: and it just might be a remount in more ways than one!

(John Kaufmann, Peter Dylan O'Connor, and Timothy Hyland reprise their roles for this production, and are joined by Seattle stage favorites Jena Cane and Charles R. Leggett.)

More info...

The Salteens
{Take the stage at 12a}
"At a mere 28 minutes, the [Salteens'] album is a compact, energetic and joyous barrage of guitar-pop punches, snappy lyrics and sing-along choruses, served up over a set of jubilant melodies that will reside in the back of your brain for days on end like a soundtrack to spring fever. Boppy, bouncy riffs and keyboard swirls intertwine with soupy veils of '60s strings and swells of rolling horns, twinkling in silvery layers over frisky basslines and fluid, playful percussion." -- Splendid

Tullycraft
{Take the stage at 11p}
Over the course of their four-album career, Seattle's Tullycraft has secured a firm place in the hearts of indie-popsters everywhere. Tullycraft's songs of awkward emotion and clever adorability hit that chord of uncertainty and self-realization in each of us - whether we want to admit it or not. They take broken heartstrings and disguise them as palatable pop songs. It's been a year since the release of their critically acclaimed album, Disenchanted Hearts Unite which means that they'll be debuting a number of new songs at this show.
{band website} {listen to a song}

BOAT
{Take the stage at 10p}
Just last week BOAT was featured NPR's 'All Songs Considered' just as they made their way back into town fresh off their West Coast tour. Their lo-fi Shins-esque vocals and smart quirky lyrics inspire even the most stoic of crowds to supply back-up handclaps. They combine early Kinks know-how and beef it up with Graham Coxon moxie. The end result is clever, earnest, and damn catchy.

VOXY
{Take the stage at 9:20p}
This duo of damsels is rarely seen but often referenced by those that witness their spastic, heavy handed lyrical rapping wonder. With costumes and sass influenced by their Iron Composer cousins, they are sure to start the night off with a bang.

Illuminares Lantern Procession in Vancouver B.C (Saturday, 7/29)

Hi PV,

I saw the Illuminares Lantern Procession you mentioned
last week while visiting a friend in Vancouver. It was
an impressive display of unstructured glow-in-the-dark
community creativity. The crowd and their lanterns
wander around the lake in the dark, and people go from
light to light like moths, discovering luminous
displays behind trees and bushes and floating in the
lake. We thought it was great.

If you're curious, I posted photos at:
