Saturday night, August 5, 8pm to 2am, CoCA will host the Seafair Ball. Dance and groove to live music on the alley stage provided by The Lights, Whiting Tennis and Dustbunny. Just last week BOAT was featured NPR's 'All Songs Considered' just as they made their way back into town fresh off their West Coast tour. Their lo-fi Shins-esque vocals and smart quirky lyrics inspire even the most stoic of crowds to supply back-up handclaps. They combine early Kinks know-how and beef it up with Graham Coxon moxie. The end result is clever, earnest, and damn catchy.
VOXY

This duo of damsels is rarely seen but often referenced by those that witness their spastic, heavy handed lyrical rapping wonder. With costumes and sass influenced by their Iron Composer cousins, they are sure to start the night off with a bang.

Illuminares Lantern Procession in Vancouver B.C (Saturday, 7/29)
Hi PV,
I saw the Illuminares Lantern Procession you mentioned
last week while visiting a friend in Vancouver. It was
an impressive display of unstructured glow-in-the-dark
community creativity. The crowd and their lanterns
wander around the lake in the dark, and people go from
light to light like moths, discovering luminous
displays behind trees and bushes and floating in the
lake. We thought it was great.
