Events from 10/7 to 10/13/2005

There is not much going on this week. If you are one of the 56 new readers (thanks to an announcement at getoutandseesomeart@yahoogroups.com) let me say "welcome". You can read more about Party Volcano at http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Content?oid=13891.

If you are getting sick of my downgrades, send me an "unsubscribe". That will get you off this list. You can also send me emails with your suggestions or comments. But be warned: Events may or may not be downgraded and I may or may not post your comment in my special column called "Letters to the Editor". (I missed those days when I got furious hate mails from weirdoes like Daren Ludd. Does anybody know what happened to that crazy fuck?)

Axolotl @ Chamber Theater

Sabine writes:

Hey PV!

My friend Karl Frost is producing another set of Axolotl performances this weekend and next....and I thought it would be appropriate for your weekly eruption. No, it's not the Seattle-based experimental music group - rather, it's a very cool 2 hour long blindfolded (dance, etc.) performance/experiment. I have attended twice before and will be back again for this series. Highly recommended to all! Read below and/or see the website for more info.

cheers,
sabine

Axolotl Performance
Subject: Axolotl Oct 7-9 and 14-16

Come to Axolotl blindfold performance experience! Be blindfolded for
2 hours and interact with a group of actors, dancers, musicians, and
other audience members. Rather than being a set work, Axolotl is an
investigation coming out of a shared culture of creative exploration
amongst the performers, searching after the illusive nature of
"meaning" movement, sensation, thought, sound, words, music, feeling,
touch as much about what the audience brings as the performers.

8pm Fri-Sunday, Oct 7-9 and October 14-16
Chamber Theater, 915 E Pine St, 4th floor

Johnny Jetpack Launch #48 @ Gasworks Park (10/1/2005)

In case you forgot what this was about:

Johnny Jetpack is a 7 and a half foot tall puppet/dummy attached to a giant water rocket backpack. When launched, he obtains heights of 70-90 feet and speeds of 50+ miles per hour in about one second. He then plummets earthward in a dramatic fashion. This plummet includes a complex system of "parachute for Jetpack", pilot ejection, screams and flailing limbs, and on-board explosion with head detachment.

Miguel was planning on going until he heard the news:

Johnny Jetpack was not granted permission to launch. Somebody at the Dept. of Parks stopped them shortly before lift-off. You know, I really did wonder how they were going to pull that off because the fellow assembling Johnny actually volunteered that the Jetpack was actually fueled with either, 1) nitrogen or 2) something else. I honestly don't remember; but I do recall wondering what the kill radius was going to be.

I thought this was a free country! Can't you just blow yourself up anymore like in the good old days?

Don Volcano's Computer Corner

I am sure we all could have needed a personal liquor filter at one point in our drinking career:

Personal Liquor Filter
http://www.graykangaroo.com/

So here is a quiz: Fake or real?

The Gray Kangaroo™ is the world's first and only personal liquor filter™. It filters inexpensive liquor and gives it qualities of more expensive liquor by removing the impurities which cause bad taste and hangover.

The Gray Kangaroo™ is a bottle to bottle system. You take the full bottle of liquor and put it on top upside down and an empty bottle and put the GK on top of that. If you don't have an empty bottle don't worry! Once you have a GK all you will have is empty bottles. It takes 5-7 minutes to filter a liter of liquor with the he GK. You can filter liquor multiple times for optimum effect.

You tell me.
