Go Like Hell, Fitz of Depression, Bristle, Kill the Hippies @ FunHouse

(This week the live music events are sparse... This one appears to be
fun... after all, it's at the FunHouse.)
Go Like Hell, Fitz of Depression, Bristle, Kill the Hippies at the
FunHouse (Under the Monorail near the Center)
Lead singer Amber of Go Like Hell has appeared in Hustler and done
stage performance work with The Genitorturers, and now she's fronting a
punk band. If you were to guess that it's a high energy show, you'd be
right. (Just don't let her kick you with the 6" spiked heels...)

Brides of Satan 6/6/6

The Guerrilla Masquerade Party recommends this event:

Hey Guerrillas!

Did you feel a little something was missing back in March? Did you
have your wedding dress ready, but couldn't find something to marry?
Don't you think a June wedding would be better?

Every year, the same fine people who organize Seattle's Santarchy have
been organizing the Brides of March - a day/night out on the town in
wedding dresses. This year, Brides of March has been tranformed:
Instead of the annual nuptuals to a phallic local landmark, the
Wedding Planner couldn't pass up the beauty of June 6th, 2006 -- aka
6/6/6. That's right, this year, the Brides are marrying SATAN!

So get out your wedding finest and join the party. Devilish Brides
(and Damned Maids of Honor) of all types are encouraged to come out.

The organizer, Demonic Bride Ivan, passed along these details:

"Date: 6/6/6
Start Time: 6:06 pm
Location: Volunteer Park, by the ampitheatre

Yep, that's a Tuesday evening. We'll start after work, and marry our
Dark Lord by the Black Sun at sunset. Sunset is at 8:10 that day, so
we won't accept "I don't have time to change after work" as an excuse!

This is a potlucky kind of affair, so in addition to your glamorous
selves, bring a dish. There are no grilling facilities at Volunteer
Park, so extra points to ambitious hibachi bringers.

Other things to bring: musicky making things. Croquet and/or lawn
golf supplies.

See you then, gals!"

Sound like fun? No doubt. So pull that dress you thought you'd never
wear again out of the closet (your daughter won't REALLY wear it on
her wedding day, it'll be WAY out of style by then). Or swing by a
thrift store and pick up an old wedding gown (Goodwill often has good
prices). Or throw together something wedding dress-like out of
garbage bags and duct tape... Satan's not picky. Whatever you do,
come on out for a evening of silliness, food, and good times.

ArtWalk @ Retail Therapy

Wazhma writes:

We are begining a new chapter with the Capitol Hill Art Walk. They are changing the night to Tuesday nights! This round we have D'vorah show casing Huichol Jewlery from Mexico here is what she says.

Huichol jewelry adds magic to your life and prosperity for the Huichol people. The sale of Beads of Beauty jewelry supports the Huichol Cultural center which provides education, basic medical care and supports their traditional way of life. The Huichol are a indigenous Mexican community. The designs and colors of the jewelry radiate the essence of the Huichol culture. Each piece reflects the beauty and spirituality of the artists and inspires the age old Huichol bead working tradition to continue.

Wine and Snacks flowing as usual. Al are welcome. We also have a huge range of visual art if you missed last months bash.

Hope you can make it

Art Opening by Lars Bergquist @ The Alibi Room

Wednesday, June 7th 2006 at 7pm
Art Opening by Lars Bergquist
at The Alibi Room

Musical mixes provided by Plan B

The Alibi Room is proud to present No Touching Ground for the month of
June 2006. In his first exhibition in our space, NTG will be installing
some remarkable work displaying his ability to create in all kinds of
environments and with an array of mediums. "Remnants" is an intimate
showcase for NTG graphics, which typically have been used in large murals
or installations, and often outside. For this exhibition, these graphics
will be pasted on a variety of 2 and 3 dimensional objects as well as onto
the walls of the Alibi Room.

Artist Statement: No Touching Ground (NTG) is a reminder to people that we
have the power to change what is going on in our personal lives and to
change what is going on around us, to reacquaint ourselves with our
surroundings and to push for a more harmonious style of living. It is a
reminder that limits are placed on us by ourselves. This message is
presented in the form of abstract narrative through posters, which are
pasted into site-specific environments targeting the groups of people who
frequent those areas. The NTG graphics are a mesh of human and natural
imagery and whose intent is to bridge the gap between the duality.

Please join us for the artist's reception on Wednesday, June 7th 2006
at 7pm.

Steven writes:

Hi PV,

I'm in a group show entitled Referencing Nature, and would love for you to come to the opening next week.

Please join me from 5-7pm on Thursday, June 8th at SAM Rental/Sales Gallery, as I present three large photographs from my ongoing body of work, The Wild Boys.

I'll be representing the "unnatural" side of nature with visions of bunny sex, a feral feast, and a friend with his head buried in the ground.

Details are listed below — hope to see you there...

Yours,
Steven

Don Volcano's Computer Corner

Since my gym (SMB) raised rates from $8 to $50 per month I have been thinking about picking up a new sport. Something that is interesting and keeps me fit. A new fast growing sport is Parkour. Never heard of it?

Parkour in London
