Events For 3/21/03 to 3/26/03.

I don't have much time this week. CoCA has sent us a hint about an "Exhibition at Tangletown" with no dates and no information.
Stephen Burnett was sending us this nice picture of Arenal in Costa Rica - a real volcano:

As many of you are going to the 5ive event on Friday, I would like to invite you to come down and prefunc at Alchemy with me, before you head over to that event. As usual, the Friday Alchemy will be a higher energy show and a great way to start the weekend.

But 5ive is on Saturday (see below). One conflict less to worry about...

Darek Mazzone's Planet Beat @ToST

Darek writes:

In light of the most recent events in our world. I thought it would be most appropriate to get you to step away from the TV, and dance to Arabic music at Tost this Friday. I’ll be spinning at the peace rally at the Federal Bldg from 7-8 then down to Tost for the show starting at 9.

This Friday the focus will be on the amazing beats coming out of the Middle East and India/Pakistan.

In light of the times, I thought it couldn’t be more appropriate.
Bombay Casbah will be on this Friday and every 3d Friday of the Month.
This week featuring dj advent, myself and james whetzel
We’ll have special guests and surprises to give you much flavor.

"Feast for the Senses" @ SAW

This reminds me on those Potluck Slideshows that Casey Kelbaugh is organizing every other month. Snack Daddy Presents and Secluded Alley Works (SAW) have joined together to bring you "Feast for the Senses" - an interactive evening of food, art, music, games, and dance:

What is this? This event has been organized to bring people together to have fun and share their creative energies. We'll have food, drink, and live "electrobreakambientsoundscapehouse'n'bass" by BaronVonBeck. You will be able to contribute to the event with real-time interactive music creation-stations, games, art displays, and plenty of resources on hand
so you can conceive your own masterpieces.

Participation: All guests are called to contribute to this evening of creative exploration. You can do so in a variety of ways:

1) Bring a "snack" that creatively incorporates the event's theme (in this case, "Food as Art");
2) Provide a packaged food donation for the 1st Avenue Service Center homeless shelter (www.drizzle.com/~fasc);
3) Create something at the event;
4) Make a cash donation;
5) Bring instruments, party favors, juggling balls...anything you think will add to the experience;
6) Make offerings to the Sacred Senses Shrine (flowers, candles, stones, random trinkets, etc.);
7) Contact us and we'll find a way to get you involved.

Cost: $10 without food contribution; $5 with food contribution. Note: Food and $$ will be shared with the 1st Avenue Service Center and SAW's coop art gallery.

Secluded Alley Works, 113 12th Avenue (corner of 12th & Yesler). 7pm - 11pm. $10/$5.

5ive - An Experiment in Interactive Performance

I know many people are excited about this new project:

The Five Families is excited to announce "5ive," its first collaborative, multi-media arts event. Taking place at 9:00 pm on Saturday, March 22 at the Capitol Hill Arts Cooperative (1621 12th Avenue). This innovative, interactive installation-meets-party will challenge, inspire and entertain attendees, as well as providing a forum for some of Seattle's most exciting young arts groups to work together in what promises to be the first of many collaborations:

Come down to the C.H.A.C. on Saturday, March 22 for 5ive, the inaugural event from the Five Families, an organization comprised of (way more than five of) Seattle's most innovative new arts groups. Navigate your way through five senses of interactive art installations on your way to the sixth sense, an all-out party event brought to you by MASS. Help us blur the lines between art and party.

There will be plenty of live music, DJs, and drinks.
Active participation encouraged!

Monday 3/24.

Pat Cole writes:

This is Pat Cole with a little bit of mad fun! Monday of next week, the 23rd, my son in law Brett (Who makes wood glass blowing tools, and is a fabulous painter) will be playing in a battle of the bands with his band "The White Trash Compacters" at the Ballard Firehouse. New music, fresh meat, no one we know will be there! We can propel their little band to a C D contract by offering our support with dancing and yelling! Starts at 8:30 or 9!

Fantastic. I love to yell, I will go. If I remember correctly The White Trash is actually a name of a boat owned by one of Pat's friends. I am wondering whether the name of the band is refering to that boat...
"Ballard" Firehouse, 8:30pm.
