This events has two parts:
6 pm - 8 pm: Artists' Reception in the Gallery (Free)
8 pm - 2 am: Gala Opening ($7 / Free for Members)

1) FILTER Gallery: SORTA.

SORTA is a multimedia exhibition that explores a culture increasingly defined by the ability to gather, categorize, and disseminate immense amounts of information. Sarah Morris (obsessive knitting) is one of the seven artists that are showing their work.

This series, we're offering two visual art exhibitions side-by-side: the SORTA exhibit, curated by our very own Meg Shiffler and Brian Wallace (previously of the Bellevue Art Museum), and the fifth annual ALTOIDS CURIOUSLY STRONG COLLECTION, in its world-premiere exhibit.

2) FILTER Opening Gala

Featuring: DJ Darek Mazzone, Live Drum & Base duo Obelisk, DJ Jaz, Live-loop video by Spaceboat.tv, Hors d'oeuvres, Freely flowing spirits and love in our ConBar, Kissing Booth / Membership Booth.

It'll be a good event and this time ConWorks did a much better job at advertising it. Unfortunately they are competing with a lot of private "Fuck Valentines Day" parties.

Consolidated Works is located at 500 Boren Avenue North, between Mercer Street and Republican Street, in the South Lake Union neighborhood.
6-8pm: Artists' Reception, Free
8pm - 2am: Gala Opening, $7, Free for Members

Pajama and Lingerie Party @ Noiselab.

Live band opening at 8 pm, followed by a lingerie fashion show at 9 pm.

5 dj's, there will always be two different rooms of music (upstairs and downstairs) all night long. This is a benefit for Nicholas Farina, who is currently fighting Leukemia.
He was diagnosed late last year and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Proceeds from the event will be used to offset some of the medical expenses incurred.

The Oracle Gatherings: Atlantis

I am too tired and busy for slamming this event. But this one truly deserves a downgrade:

Here may we discover what Atlantis has to teach us and may we channel peace to calm the storm through these intense times.
May this gathering honor worldwide peace...
May this gathering inspire the fire within us...
May this gathering initiate deeper connections and community through dance, ritual, and art in all its forms.

Twenty bucks will get you into this weird Hippie Disneyland:

Features of this Event
* Opening Ceremony (8pm) with Heart Meditation by Jennifer Short
* Yoga with Vesper
* Contact Dance with Jacob Cino from Van.BC.
* Om Chai House a social atmosphere with chai and Moroccan mint tea (www.omchaihouse.com).
* Sanctuary with massage, crystal healing, meditation, and literature
* Altars offered by Travelers and Gargoyles Statuary
* Divination Chamber with tarot card readers and other divining arts
* Sushumna: A Chakra Healing Experience with intimacy dyads and guided movement
* Closing Ceremony where we gather to draw the next card in the Oracle Series!!

A KEXPer Clash Night

This is the party to go: Darek Mazzone (KEXP's Wo' Pop) is inviting us to a special event dedicated to the music of The Clash. He writes:

Ola Amigos and Amigas

As you know, Joe Strummer of the Clash passed away a few weeks ago. The Clash were a pretty big influence on me so I decided to pop out my old clash vinyl give it a spin. Completely blown away again on how rich and varied the work was. Puts these lil' whipper snappers today to shame.!!

So I decided to throw a party with some fellow music lovers, and you by far have the most love for music I know..So..

It’s going to be happening at the 9 Pound Hammer in Georgetown. (This is by far the best joint in Seattle)

Time to say goodbye to The Clash in fine style.

Saturday Night (Feb. 15) will kick in at 9.
No cash required, just come down and have a blast.

9 Pound Hammer Bar 6001 Airport Way South, in Georgetown (Seattle), 9pm, free.

Wednesday, 2/19.

Disco SIP @ W Hotel.

"SIP" stands for "Social Interactive Playtime", a monthly event happening on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the W in downtown Seattle. The W has probably the best Lemon Drops in town and they will be served for only $5 as well as other well drinks and a selection of bar munchies created by Chef Jonathan Sundstrom.

Since music will be provided by DJ Darek Mazzone it should be a good event. Notice it's on the second floor.

W, 2nd floor, 1112 4th Ave, 6-11pm.

Letters to the Editor.

Dear P.V.,

It was with some concern that I read your description of the troubled relationship between Elks and Germans in your home country of Germany. Though I understand that Germans and German Elks have their reasons, it’s a darn shame that something positive can’t be done there to improve things.

For example, in the state of Arizona, USA, the regional chapter of The Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks (http://www.elks.org) supplies free hides to veterans living in local VA hospitals. The Elks Club sends salted and tanned animal skins to veterans who sew these hides into beautiful leather objects. You may be surprised to learn that in their youth, deer, pigs, rabbits--even sheep!--voluntarily sign “organ donor” cards specifically to support this initiative.
That way, their surviving rellatives will know to send their hides to support the Elks’ Veterans Leather Program.

For more information on this fine program, an instructional video on the collection, salting, palletizing and shipping of hides is distributed by your State National Veterans Service Committee Chairman. If you're an Elk, or a lover of Elk, contact him to make arrangements for obtaining this video.

P.V., do you think that Germans and German Elks could arrange something similar to improve relations? It just seems wrong to me that German Elks have to keep "switching teams" to keep the Germans happy...

Sincerely,
A Concerned Reader
Plummers Crack, Arizona

Dear C.R. from P.C.,

who said that living your life after "switching teams" is that horrible? Elks do it to keeps themselves happy. I found this nice photo on the web that shows a group of happy, successful Germans (formerly Elks):
http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/partyvolcano/vwp?.dir=/Invitations&.dnm=Elks.jpg

They all admit being harsh critics of Elks. Can you blame them?

Best,
P.V.

P.S.: Where the hell is Plummers Crack?
