More Events For 9/26 to 9/30/2002

It looks like Rilke has to wait. There are two more events for Friday and Saturday.
Cheers!

Friday 9/27

Film - Tributary (Hosted by Blammo! Saturday and Ants Invasion Friday)

Curious, hilarious, and ultimately just kind of sad, this video documentary of the tribute band phenomenon (we see acts pay homage to artists from AC/DC to Yes) is compulsively watchable, for all the reasons that a bunch of brain-dead musicians trying to justify their habits are always watchable. Ants Invasion, a local Adam and the Ants trib, play Friday, while Saturday brings karaoke hosted by none other than Blammo! The Surly Drunken Clown, a performer who is better than watchable: Why, he's practically unbearable!

Friday and Saturday at ConWorks -- kickoff of the film series.

Films are at 8pm -- the gallery will be open and there will be a full cash bar. Karaoke or bands are at 10pm.

Saturday 9/28

Rooks Classic Car Show Brings Hotrods and Rockabilly to Old Ballard

Seattle, WA, September 13, 2002 – The 2nd Annual Rooks Rockabilly Ball Classic Car Show will fill the streets of Old Ballard with vintage cars and rockabilly music from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2003.

Over 100 pre-1965 American cars, ranging from primered ratrods to mint condition showpieces, will be parked along Ballard ave. A full day’s line-up of live music will be provided free at the Tractor Tavern, featuring six bands, including Little Ray & The Uppercuts, The Lustre Kings, and Hard Money Saints.

The Rooks is a Seattle-based club whose members share a sincere interest in old-school hotrodding and classic Americana culture of the 50’s. In addition to the Annual Rockabilly Ball Car Show, the Rooks also host an annual Blessing of the Cars, and a holiday toy drive.
