WORLD PREMIERE!

POINT BREAK LIVE!
Adapted by Zack Carlson & Jaime Keeling

Directed and Produced by Jaime Keeling and Jaime Hook

$12/ $10 members, Reservations : 329-2629

The movie that grabbed the hearts of extreme sports enthusiasts in 1991 is now brought to the stage for 2003! The film had no less than 5 action sequences and the play promises no less. POINT BREAK follows the story of an unlikely pair, Johnny (Keanu) Utah, former quarterback for the Ohio Buckeyes turned sexy FBI agent and Bohdi (Swayze) Sattva, bank robbing surf guru. Watch them hang ten, sky dive, commit armed robbery, party, explore their Zen-like Kamikaze nature, swap lovers, fight, shoot at each other, explode gas stations, kidnap innocents, and eventually sky dive again...this time with only one parachute and a gun. Will they make it? Yes. Featuring Rev. Spenser Hoyt in the role of his career!

WARNING: It is mandatory that YOU watch POINT BREAK: THE MOVIE as much as possible before attending POINT BREAK: THE PLAY. This will greatly improve your experience. ALSO: upon entering the theater, be prepared to receive your PB2003 SURVIVAL KIT, containing goggles, a rain slicker, earplugs, money, and other implements of defense!

Dorkweed @ Studio 7

John Schlick writes:

TONIGHT, at Studio 7, I can't be there, but Dorkweed will be there.
Yee Haw. These guys are amazingly fun, and they have the most esoteric lyrics. (Pipe Bombs... Are Illegal... at least in my state.) They are opening for some friends of theirs from out of town. Studio 7 is new, down near sears (actually First and Utah I think), and it's got a bar even though it's an all ages show. and the club is starting to build a reputation and take off.

If you are a block north of spokane on first, you ought to see the signboards. Go 1/2 block East and there willbe a circle around a spinning 7. thats the club, yes it's a warehousy feel but it's pretty cool inside, and they have a high quality stage and the shows are usually above par.

Studio 7, 110 South Horton.
(approx. 1.5 miles south of Safeco field on 1st Ave S. Just turn left on Horton and you can't miss it! )

Six Annual Dead Baby Bike Race

Heather is PV’s own new volunteer. Here is here report:

A, shall we say: less than legal, granddaddy of em all, bike race organized by the cagey and secretive Dead Baby Bike Club (Clut). Register at 6pm at the Beacon Pub (3057 Beacon Avenue S.) the race begins at 7 pm Sharp. You can also pre-register (and get your very own Tee-Shirt) here: http://www.deadbabybikes.org/raceshit/racenow.htm. The race will be dominated by custom made monster bikes and bike cycle messengers, but don't let that scare you off. Its Downhill and ends at a party (3600 E. Marginal Way S.), which in previous years has been repudiated to be pretty epic. Plus there is a gross, yet strangely compelling, dead baby trophy for the winner.
Race ya.

LEAP fest in Redmond

John Schlick writes:

WOW, it's a busy busy weekend. It must be summer in Seattle. I will be at LEAPFEST all weekend. That invite and all the details are below, and I sent them to you before.. This should be an amazing show, and I hope to see a lot of fellow party volcanoer's there.

Here are the details:

LEAP fest!

This is your invitation to attend the Living Erotic Arts and Performance Festival which is being held August 2nd & 3rd at the Longhouse (23301 Redmond-Fall City Road) near Redmond, WA. Suggested donation for this private party is $10 for one day, $15 for both (cash only at this time). No starving artists or patrons will be turned away for lack of funds.

Festival hours are approximately 1pm to 11pm (later on Saturday).

The LEAP Festival explores the intersections of art, sensuality, eroticism, and spirituality. This is one way to give expression (both serious and playful) to the struggle of finding a way to live a healthy erotic life in the context of a shame-ridden culture. Contributing artists include sculptors, musicians, visual artists, writers and performance artists (including fire performers!). Attendees are encouraged to come in costume, fetish wear or other body art, and create their own works of art and experiences. Please bring towels as there is a heated pool, hot tubs and sunbathing available on site. The site is only 30 minutes from Seattle and offers a sex-positive atmosphere with strong respect for boundaries.

You must be 18 years or older to attend. There will be nudity and consensual eroticism on the premises during the weekend. So when sharing this invitation with select friends, keep these points in mind.

You will be asked to sign a hold-harmless agreement. Some food will be available on site, and there is a grocery store within walking distance. Other helpful supplies might include a flashlight, mosquito repellent...

Seafair Ball 2003 at Consolidated Works.

Conwork’s PR dept must be on vacation. This is a short note that we have received.
Not enough information for me on this otherwise pretty busy Saturday:

This Saturday we invite you to the seafair ball 2003 at Consolidated Works.

M-Set @ Doc’s.

John Schlick writes again:

M-Set is having thier last show with Jason Demain at Doc's this weekend (Saturday). This is the band that has parties at their house till people get too drunk to stay concious, strip them down and write on them with sharpies. A quality group all round. Back to Jason... He has joined a Glampire band called Camero Hair in Portland and it looks like they may take off. I'm sure they will be totally and completely out of control as this is thier last show together. I will miss Jason, until he gets signed and calls me to go on the road with him and Camero Hair. By the way, if anyone knows a solid female singer that plays (guitar or keyboards or percussion) that wants to join M-Set they do 4 part harmonies and are going to be looking for someone to replace Jason. I am personally SO bummed that I can't be at this show.

Wordblender Dual-CD Release Party @ Summerland

Marcells writes:

Hello, Please come down and experience some great music with visuals and
drinks!

It sounds a little bit like Eclectolounge (R.I.P.). Here is some more information :

Groovebender Records is proud to announce the long awaited release of two full-length records by WORDBLENDER, a Seattle musical/spoken-word ensemble. These two albums, Nectar and Tainted Ambrosia are fueled by the desire to create art for art’s sake.

WORDBLENDER is RJ May and Pnapper with a collective of local and national musicians. In 2001 a new musical/spoken word project was born: Wordblender. RJ May creates the words, Pnapper blends the noise. Wordblender provides the creative freedom to forge new ground in _expression and music. The first CD, In Vino Veritas was the start. Now, two new albums, Tainted Ambrosia and Nectar are ready for release.

Hors d'ouvres & beverages, including beer and wine provided.
No cover charge!
21 and older with I.D.

CDs and t-shirts will be available for sale.

Also featuring art by Seattle artist Rick Klu and visuals by Funky Photons!

Come help us celebrate!

Some people here in Seattle still think that I am Rick Klu. For a while I had given up and just went with the flow. I pretended I was him, or to be precise: I didn’t correct the mistake when people thought I was him. By being Rick Klu I actually learned a lot about this gentleman. For example he signs his paintings with “666” and he drives cabs for his living. One day I was finally introduced to my doppelganger. Overwhelmed by this spiritual moment I was trying to explain to him the deeper meaning of this coincidence:

“Rick, you have to go out more often. People are expecting you to show up at those art events but you never go. They want to see you in me, you understand? You are the real Rick, but I am the true Rick.”

His facial expression was telling me that I had already lost him. He didn’t understand. So I switched topics and asked him about his art:

PV: “Why do you sign your paintings with 666?”
Klu: “Because it’s like the half-ass version of 999!”
PV: “Totally half-ass!”

Klu: "Yeah!"

For a brief moment we mentally connected and became one…

Jim Evans Band @ The Rainbow

Do you remember Jim’s party invitation two weeks ago? Apparently it was a pretty good birthday party (“Jim had that amazing birthday party at his house where the dance floor had threesomes dancing, and women deciding that it was too hot so lots of clothing came off...”). His band is playing this Saturday.
He writes:

Hey, though, if any of your people are interested in live music, my band (The Jim Evans Band) is opening on Saturday night at The Rainbow in the U District for a band called The Withdrawls. Here’s the blurb I sent to my mailing list, and you can forward it as appropriate:

On Saturday, August 2nd, The Jim Evans Band will be playing at the Rainbow in Seattle, starting at 10:00 PM. This show is a really big deal for us, and I'd really like to see a big turnout for it. Also playing later that night will be the Withdrawls (http://www.withdrawls.com), from Albuquerque, NM. There will be a $5 cover charge for this 21-and-over performance.

The Rainbow is located at 722 NE 45th St in Seattle's University District, near the intersection of NE 45th and Interstate 5. They are next door to the Blue Moon Tavern, across from Kinko's.

DUB NARCOTIC SOUND SYSTEM at Luscious Studios

LOSS LEADER presents a striking Northbound attack from music makers of Olympian proportion:

DUB NARCOTIC SOUND SYSTEM is the three piece you can’t escape, the baratone booty bass of the one and only Mr. Calvin Johnson, kick-spinning to the rydddim section to reckon with, Chris “C.O.C.O.” Suttons, and Heather “Tiger Trap” Dunn. Hand-clappin’, ass grabbin’, love makin’, earth shakin’.

THE ARM is a brand new outlet for a sphere of capitol city talent, a space rock symposium that features Dave Harvey of Behead the Prophet NLSL & Tight Bros From Way Back, Sarah Utter and Peter Connelly of the Bangs, and Kevin Doria of Growing.

OKMONIKS are an Arizonian quartet that rumble rawkous pop from the tool-lined suburban garages of Tuscon.

Rapture (7/26/2003)

DJML is not the only one who was sending in a positive party report on Rapture:

The Space Virgin's "Rapture" was a blast.

All the shiny, sparkly, people in their costumes partied and danced the night away.
At 4am the dance floor was still overflowing with happy beings.

Many thanks to all who volunteered, and to everyone who attended.
Now to get ready for Burning Man. . .

Joey wrote:

Oh what a heavenly devilish time.
The Glitter, the silver, the sweat, the spirits, the toys.
We met so many new friends and "enjoyed" the old pals as well.
Thank You so much Space Virgins, you definitely know how to make us feel like GODS!!!
The decorations were monumental.
The DJs were outa control.
It was so nice to see:
DJML, Casey, Diem, Todd, everyone's name I can't remember (thanks to Virgin Panties), Girl with Booze-Ray-Gun, my SNOGing-friends, Half-Mast Nipple Girl, Silver Cowboy hat guy, and all you sexy beasts that made this a night we never wanted to end.
